New and Noteworthy
New in MacroFactor: Food Logging Updates
The label scanner got a big upgrade during this round of updates. MacroFactor can now read nutrition labels across different formats and languages, along with other text on the package. This is especially useful for imported foods, less standardized labels, or products that can be harder to find in the food database.
Custom food creation is getting easier too. Take a photo of the front of the product and another of the nutrition label, and MacroFactor can use both to create the food with details like the product name, brand, and nutrition information.
More generally, the underlying AI workflows for food logging and recipe creation have also been improved, so these features should feel even faster than before.
New in Workouts: Plate-Stack AI and Equipment Edit
MacroFactor Workouts now has Plate-Stack AI for pin-loaded machines. Since weight stacks can vary quite a bit between machines, you can take a photo of the setup so MacroFactor can account for the loading scheme and give you recommendations that better match the machine you’re using. This can be a big time-saver when customizing equipment.
Additionally, you can now edit equipment directly during a workout or from the settings menu.
New App Insights: 10 MacroFactor Features You Might Have Missed
MacroFactor has a dedicated roadmap, sees frequent updates, and is made by a team that genuinely listens to user feedback. As a result, new features are rolled out regularly. However, not every release note or announcement reaches all users. As a result, some useful tools go unnoticed. In addition, MacroFactor includes many features that most other food loggers don’t offer, so new users may not think to look for them.
In this article, we take a look at some of those features that often spark a “Wait, I didn’t know about that!” reaction when our audience hears about them.

New Case Study: How Zarina Learned Her True Expenditure With MacroFactor
Zarina has put in years of work. She has trained for more than a decade, competed in Olympic weightlifting, trained in powerlifting, spent time in CrossFit, and now trains with the goal of eventually competing in Figure bodybuilding.
But even with that experience, she still had a hard time pinning down how much energy she was actually expending each day.
That’s where MacroFactor came in.
To read more and get tips from Zarina herself, check out the full case study.

What We’re Working On
A new version of MacroFactor’s Weight Trend calculation is now in beta and available to try. Weight Trend V2 provides more robust smoothing that can revise past weigh-ins as new data comes in and reduce lag. If you select Weight Trend V2, you can choose whether the app uses only weight data, only your goal rate, or a blended approach to calculate your trend weight.
Note: Weight Trend V2 is still in beta and has an “Experimental” label in the app. As more data comes in on how this new method performs, we’ll continue refining the equations before removing that label.
We’re also continuing to make progress on the feature roadmap for Workouts. Here’s a quick look at what’s currently on the development table:
- Building a high-quality Apple Watch companion app
- Refining the smart progression logic
- Adding a PPL split option to program generation
